Wednesday Night Music Marathon
Trippin' Balls, Brothers Creeggan, Guster, Thinbuckle
Wednesday, January 17th
After the BNL show, we got something to eat, then headed to Follies to see Trippin' Balls, Brothers Creeggan and Guster. We were so tired from snorkeling and the BNL show on the Lido deck that we were actually dozing off between sets. We didn't take a lot of pictures, because we were saving one of our last big memory card for the BNL show on Thursday night (next page).
Trippin' Balls, Follies - 8:30 pm
Trippin' Balls came on first, which is really Guster dressed up as hippies, playing one long half-hour song that morphs between musical genres. These guys did not stop... it was really impressive!

Brothers Creeggan, Follies - 9:15 pm
Brothers Creeggan was next, composed of Andy and Jim Creeggan, with Tyler Stewart helping them out on drums. Ed Robertson came out and played bass for a while, too. Jim and Andy's wives, Anna and Natascha, came out for a song (Spider in My Room), then Natascha came out again later for another song (Rocking Chair, which has been in my head ever since!).

Guster, Follies - 10:30 pm
Finally, Guster came out, and played a great set. This was the second time we saw them, but this time we were a lot more familair with their music, so we were able to sing along (well, I was anyway). We spent most of the time, once again, watching Brian play drums... it's truly amazing watching him whack the living crap out of cymbals and congas with his friggin' bare hands! At the end of the regular show, Ryan insisted they would NOT come out for an encore unless we booed them, because everyone was waaaaay too nice on the boat. So, we booed like crazy, and someone started up a "Guster Sucks!" chant, which we joined, but we were barely able to keep it together, we were laughing so hard! When they came back out, Ryan was showing off two big middle fingers to everyone. It was hysterical! We had no idea what an impact that was going to have on the rest of the trip...

Thinbuckle, Avalon Stage - 12:30 am
Despite being completely wiped, we knew Thinkbuckle was playing up at the Avalon Stage after Guster, so we decided to "go up to deck nine and get some ice cream, then watch a couple songs and go to bed." Yeah, right. We stayed for the whole thing, which went until about quarter after 2. Andy Creeggan came up and did two songs with them, which Kevin said was "surreal," since Andy is a former BNL member, and Kevin is his "replacement." Sean Cullen joined Kevin for a song or two (including "Come Sail Away," which was incredible), as did Kev's cousin, Harland Williams. I'm not a big fan of his in general, but it was a good time. Tyler also came up and played drums for a bit. This whole cruise was like one big jam, with individual BNL members showing up everywhere and sitting in.
